Jordan's 9th birthday!!!

Jordan's birthday party had to be postponed a week due to football, but he had a GREAT time! Derek & Todd took several of the boys to the lake so they could go fishing. After that, we had about 6 boys spend the night (good thing we had the grandparents here to help out!). He was able to buy a bunch of games for his PlayStation 2 & Wii and still has some birthday money, which he has to count at least once a week. Guess he figures something might happen to it. And now that Jordan is nine, Erik is officially

6 1/2!!!

Update on Jordan's football team...

The Tigers went into the Superbowl last Saturday undefeated. However, it wasn't the Tigers day. :(
They had a GREAT season & will be playing in a tournament this Thanksgiving weekend. I will definitely add some new pictures & highlights of the tournament.

Update on Erik's Bowling....

Erik finally listened to someone's advice (thanks Grandma Armstrong!), so now instead of running full speed & throwing the ball down the lane, Erik lines up & walks up to the line & then throws the ball & often doesn't even use the bumpers! In the least three weeks, he has bowled a 88 & 101, 78 & 86, and 88 & 96. Before Grandma's advice, he was bowling in the 70's. Way to go Erik!!!

The boys had a great time trick-or-treating in some friends' neighborhood & then later in ours. Erik was Jengo Fett (a Star Wars character that Erik could tell you all about!) and Jordan was the Evil Jester.

Whoa! Where has the time gone? Guess I need to update the blog since my last post was September 30!!!!! Since we're on Thanksgiving Break, I will have some time to fill you in on October & November!

Update on My Master's Degree

WHOO-HOO!!!!!!!

My portfolio was approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am OFFICIALLY finished with the program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew! It has been a long 18 months, but 10 classes down, over 100 papers written, and who knows how many hours suffered by Derek, Jordan & Erik as they had to put up with me & my panic attacks & deadlines, but I am so glad I did it. I've already started researching my next degree, but Derek says I have to wait until this one is paid off! Good thing he's so sensible!

My next plan is to start applying for teaching positions at online high schools or online colleges (gotta pay off that student loan somehow!)

At the Lake with Grandpa

While Grandpa Armstrong was here for a week, we were able to go to the lake for a few hours. You can tell that the boys had a great time!!!!

Weight Loss Challenge

OK, I can't say "it's just baby fat" since the baby is now 6! My goal is to lose 25 lbs by January 24 -- posting every week may keep me honest & focused -- we'll see. Next weigh in is 9/25.

1st Official Weigh In -- I lost 2.8lbs. -- I will take it!!!!!

Derek

Oops....Derek was jealous he was left off of the blog. I will try to get an updated picture of him. I think this one is almost a year old. (I'm actually the one who caught the fish - he's just posing with them - kidding!). Maybe there will be prime photo opportunities during the Bears' game Sunday!

My Masters Degree

Cross your fingers...
I'm waiting on my professor to evaluate my e-portfolio. Once that happens, I will be officially finished with my Masters Degree!!!!!

And....I just got an email & graduation will be January 24, 2009 in Dallas, TX -- provided my e-portfolio is accepted!!!!! :)

Bowling

Erik's fall bowling league began last Saturday (9/6/08) -- he bowled a 72 & a 91.

His team came in first for their age group for the summer league.

Football

Jordan is #54 & plays on the offensive & defensive lines.

Jordan's team is now 4 - 0! They definitely won their game last Saturday -- 58 - 0 or 63 - 0!!!!! I lost track of the score once they reset the scoreboard at halftime (it was 38 - 0 then!). I've added some new pictures of the team.
